SUP

I have a friend, Paul Bedard, who is always talking about Stand Up Paddling (SUP). He'd told me about how he goes into the everglades on his paddle board, and I had to try it.
So about a month ago I met up with Paul to throw the boards in and see what was up. I showed up with Aixanne, another friend, to see what the hype was all about. We got there late but as soon as we got our wetsuits on we were off. Aixanne was a natural, she isn't too tall so she has a great center of gravity. I did not do so well. I spent the first 45 minutes in a fully crouched position on the paddle board. I didn't fall though, at least not in the beginning. Once I stood up and started paddling around I realized how much of a workout it was, and when I got tired, I fell....a few times.
To be fair, they weren't real paddle boards, they were just big surf boards. I don't think I would have fallen on a SUP board...they're much, MUCH wider.
Either way, I've decided that’s the next coolest thing. Not only for me, but to take people into the swamps.

Can you imagine...Everglades Paddle Board Trips?

You get so much closer to alligators and stuff...who WOULDN't want to go?
